National Coverage: Gurgaon police arrest two men in case of gang rape and robbery
NEW DELHI: Two men have been arrested in the gang rape case of a 23-year-old woman in Gurgaons Gurgaonia, the police said on Tuesday.
Police said the two men, who have been identified as Saurabh Bhatia and Ankit Kumar , are members of a criminal gang who are involved in the rape and assault of the victim.
A senior police officer said the police have arrested two men under Section 153A (rape), 153A(murder) and 153A-2 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code and are currently interrogating the victims.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The police have also booked a case under the provisions of the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 2015.
The accused were arrested on Monday night in the same locality as the victim’s home in the western suburbs of Gurgaont.
The victim had gone to a neighbour’s house to visit her mother on Wednesday morning when a gang of about four men attacked her in a nearby house.
She escaped unharmed and managed to call the police.
Police arrested Saurabam Bhati, a resident of the Gurgaot area, and Anat Kumar, who live in the area, on Tuesday morning.
